RARE Carved Chinese Yellow Jade Recumbent the Buddha's Hand Citron.
Finely open carved yellow Jade standing on its branching stem and leaves which overlay Buddha's fingers. Faces upward on an artistically presented green glazed carved stand. This piece is fitted perfectly in the original wooden box. Creme-pale linen interior and green cushion. Labeled with four character scripts on top left interior. The Buddha's hand citron (Citrus Chirocarpus) derives its Chinese name fo shou and the alternative English name of "Finger Citron" from its odd shape. It symbolizes "Much Happiness" and is used as an offering for the altar during the Chinese New Year. The Jade stone carving is smooth. Having a moist milky appearance with even tone golden-yellowish iridescent.
