Item Details
Description
FINE QING DYNASTY CHINESE SINO-TIBETAN GILT BRONZE BUDDHA FIGURE OF DHARMAPALA YAMANTAKA AS VAJRABHAIRAVA,
Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) Period, and of Period 18th/19th C.

The gilt bronze finely casted resemble one of Dharmapalas manifestations of Yamantaka as Vajrabhairava, with his red hair, flaming aureoles and crown of five skulls, in Yab-Yum with his Sakti. Standing in pratyalidhasana on an animal, standing fiercely in hunter position on an oval lotus throne. The Eight Dharmapalas were originally hostile demons but they were tamed by Padmashambava, by means of his magical strenght and now act as the fiery defenders of Dharma.
They also viewed as wrathful manifestation of Bodhisattvas, who help the pupils attain supreme insight. They are incarnations of the powers which can bring about a breakthrough in meditation.
