A Chinese Painted Enamel and Carved Bi Yu Jade Lantern on Stand, Qing Dynasty, Qianlong Period, circa 1735-1795
Marks: Six-character Qianlong mark and of the period
8-3/4 inches high x 6-1/4 inches wide (22.2 x 15.9 cm) (lantern)
10-1/4 inches high (26.0 cm) (lantern on stand)

The lantern having geometric form with stepped sides, enamel dragon motifs to sides and collar amidst a yellow ground millefleur border, inset with carved and pierced jade dragon panels. A pair of matching carved nephrite screens of this same material, dated Qianlong, reside in the Seattle Art Museum's Eugene Fuller Memorial Collection.
