COLLECTION OF ILLINOIS CIVIL WAR EPHEMERA: To include 1) Commission to George Maxwell Chambers by Gov. Thomas Ford to rank of Colonel in the 34th Regiment Illinois Militia. Signed by Gov. Ford & Thompson Campbell, Secretary of State, dated Sept. 19, 1844. Note seam tears. In same frame is a order from Colonel Chambers to Capt. John McDonald to have 50 men ready. 2) Draft notice dated April 8, 1865. 3) Mexican War Announcement of victory in 2 battles. Note heavy folds and seam tears. 4) March 1865 appointment of Harrison Weltzhimer to Corporal, Co. K, 28th Regt. Illinois & 1866 discharge of Weltzhimer. 5) Assorted pensions, deeds and other items.
